Alice is a young woman opposed to the construction of a power-plant, an idea of her own father who is a member of the parliament. But they’ll have to be quick b...。瓦尔瓦拉（Vera Maretskaya 饰）在毕业之后决定成为一名乡村教师，对于她这一崇高的职业理想，未婚夫马尔蒂诺夫表示全力支持，然而，就在瓦尔瓦拉决定动身之时，马尔蒂诺夫却因为参加了革命而锒铛入狱，瓦尔瓦拉只得孤身一人前往偏僻的山村处。
小山村里没有人重视教育，自然也不会对瓦尔瓦拉这名乡村女教师表现太多的好感，但是瓦尔瓦拉并没有放弃，而是孜孜不倦的用文化的甘泉滋润着这片干涸的土地。一晃眼三年过去，在瓦尔瓦拉的努力下，大部分孩子都走出了农田，走进了课堂。马尔蒂诺夫也刑满释放来到了瓦尔瓦拉的身旁，两人举行了隆重的而婚礼。然而好景不长，十月革命的开始再度带走了马尔蒂诺夫。。临时受命的守护天使埃尔默（阿尔伯特·芬尼饰）带着新生灵魂米罗（安东·尤金饰）来到人间，他有24小时的时间向米罗展示人世的种种美好。与此同时，米罗逃避降生的恐惧正导致全球孕妇停止分娩.......。
